Tour Overview

6 days Uganda midrange tour takes you to western and southwestern Uganda visiting tourist destinations like Kibale National Park a haven to over 13 primate species popularly known for its immense chimpanzee population, Queen Elizabeth National Park known for its abundant wildlife and birdlife which is a home to over 95 mammal species and 600 bird species and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park known for its vast mountain gorilla population and other wildlife species such as 348 bird species, 120 mammal species, over 220 butterfly species and many more. Enjoy sightseeing along your entire trip drives and on your launch cruise along the Kazinga channel. You will meet the former forest keepers of the current Bwindi Impenetrable National Park known as the Batwa pygmies that display their cultural traditions, beliefs, norms and history for you to learn about.

Itinerary

Day 1Arrival and depart for Kibale National Park

A driver guide from Glory summit tours and travel will be waiting to receive you, take you through a briefing and immediately set off for Kibale National Park with a stopover in Fort Portal which is Uganda’s Tourism city. After lunch you will proceed for a visit to the Amabere ga Nyinamwiru caves also regarded as stalactites and stalagmites by the geographers. These caves have a cultural history attached to them and named after King Bukuku’s daughter Nyinamwiru loosely translated “Amabere ga Nyinamwiru” meaning breasts of Nyinamwiru. You will as well learn about the Batoro’s strong cultural beliefs attached to the caves with an interesting myth that are passed on to generations. Embark on your drive to be dropped off at your lodge where you will check-in to have dinner and an overnight.

Day 2Chimp trekking and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Wake up to a scrumptious breakfast to be driven to Kanyanchu visitor’s center where you will catchup with a briefing about chimpanzee trekking. Ranger guides will lead you into the Park’s dense forests to locate a troop of habituated chimpanzees while you spot several other primates like the olive baboons, blue monkeys, red-tailed monkeys to mention but a few as well as several forest bird species. You will spend an hour closely following after the chimpanzees as they feed play and nature their little ones which is an interesting experience to take away. You will return to your lodge for lunch after which you will checkout to be transferred to Queen Elizabeth National Park which is the country’s most visited National Park. Arrival will be in the afternoon to check-in at your reserved lodge to have dinner and an overnight.

Day 3Game drive and launch cruise

Enjoy your breakfast and head off for game viewing in the Park’s savannah plains as you lookout for several animals like bushbucks, elephants, buffaloes, warthogs hippopotamuses, waterbucks, hyenas, topis to mention but a few. Several bird species will as well be spotted after which you will return to your lodge for lunch before you embark on a boat cruise along the Kazinga channel. This channel is a home to large numbers of hippopotamuses, crocodiles as well as vast bird types. Several animals like buffaloes, elephants, bushbucks, Uganda kobs and many more gather around this water channel to quench their thirst and cool their temperatures that will all be spotted during your cruise. This lasts for about 2 to 3 hours after which you will be driven back to your lodge for dinner and an overnight.

Day 4Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable N/P via Ishasha

Today morning have your delicious breakfast, checkout and transit to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park via Ishasha sector famous for its tree climbing lions. You will enjoy game viewing in this sector of the Park while you spot lions hang in tree branches as well as other animals graze while the carnivores do their trick hunting. Continuing with your drive, your lunch en-route will be along the way after which you will proceed to arrive in the evening at your lodge in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park to check-in for relaxation, dinner and an overnight as you wait to meet our close cousins in their natural habitat in the next morning.

Day 5Gorilla trek & Batwa cultural experience

Enjoy your hefty breakfast and transfer to the Park headquarters to catchup with a briefing about mountain gorilla trekking. You will be allocated the gorilla family and walking sticks will be provided to support you as you hike through the misty forests in search of the gentle giants. Ranger guides will assist you locate the gorillas which may last for about 1 to 6 hours as you gaze at other primates and bird species. You will have a once in a life time experience as you closely watch them for an hour as they go by their routine duties before you get back to the lodge for lunch. After lunch you will head off for the Batwa cultural experience where you will learn about their history, how they survived in the forests and their current way of life. Get back to your lodge to have dinner and an overnight.

Day 6Transfer to Kampala and departure

Get your early morning breakfast served and checkout of the lodge to meet your driver guide to embark on your long drive to Kampala as you admire the rolling and terraced hills of the Kigezi area. Along your drive, you will have your first stopover in Mbarara for your lunch where you may decide to experience this region’s local dishes of eshabwe and kalo. You will proceed with your drive to Kampala with another stopover at Kayabwe to have an equator line experience as you take photos at the equator monument and purchase some souvenirs to take with you home. Arrival in the city center will be in the evening to be dropped off at a hotel of your choice or at the airport depending on the time of your flight back home.
