Tour Details

4 days Murchison Falls National Park takes you to Uganda’s largest national Park that lies in the North Eastern Uganda covering an area of about 3,893 km2 with estimated number of mammals to be 76 and 451 recorded number of bird species. The tour will expose you to the big 5 of the jungle and these are; lions, buffaloes, elephants, Rhinos and Leopards. You will be able to do a game drive in the park, visiting the world’s strongest waterfalls, Ziwa Rhino sanctuary for Rhino tracking, and Chimpanzee tracking in Bugongo forest, boat cruise and a hike at the top of the falls. The park is located 305km away from Kampala which is Uganda’s Capital City, and it is composed of savanna grasslands, woodland and riverine forests.

 

Itinerary

Day 1Transfer from Kampala to Murchison Falls National Park

In the morning after your breakfast, our driver guide will pick you from your hotel, park your luggage in the vehicle and set off for Murchison Falls National Park. The journey will take you about 6 hours, with a, en-route to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for Rhino tracking and a lunch en-route at Masindi hotel. Tracking the Rhinos will take you between 1 to 2 hours and then embark on the journey. You will reach the Park in the late evening, check-in to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2Game drive and boat cruise

In the morning greet your intestines with a cup of coffee/tea and embark on the game drive where you will be able to meet herds of elephants, buffaloes, lions, giraffes and you will be requested to look critically to spot leopards since they are solitary and they like hiding up. You might get a chance to see a leopard taking an antelope in the tree, or a pride of lions taking down a buffalo which is always a fascinating experience. You will be able to see other animals like oribis, some primates like baboons which will all complete your life. You will later go back at the lodge for relaxation and lunch. After lunch you will be going for a boat cruise to the bottom of the falls. You will be cruising through a school of hippos that are always mixed with crocodiles in the same habitat. You will be able to see elephants and herds of buffaloes together with giraffes at the water bank drinking water and swimming. You will also be able to spot some birds for example; Shoe bill, African darter, giant kingfisher, Osprey to mention but a few. You will later be driven back to the lodge in the late evening where you will have your dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3Chimpanzee tracking and walk to the top of the falls

A good morning, you will wake up as early as 6:30 am, have your breakfast, go to Budongo forest. You will first go to the headquarters where you will be briefed and guided about the chimpanzee trekking etiquettes and later go for tracking. This experience will take you about 2 to 4 hours depending on how quickly you are going to meet the chimpanzees. You will be guided with a ranger guide, track chimpanzees, see how they behave, through interactions, how they play, how they feed their young ones. You will be able to spot a number of birds as well while you are enjoying the plays from the chimpanzees. You will later be driven back to the lodge for lunch, relax and get ready for the walk to the top of the falls. After lunch, at around 3 pm, you will walk to the top of the falls for the scenic view where you will be hearing the thunderous waterfalls where the Nile forces water in the 7-meter gorge. You will feel relaxed, have a cool change of breath, take pictures and then later walk back to the lodge for overnight stay.

Day 4Check out and transfer back to Kampala/Entebbe

On this day, you will wake up at 8:00 am, grab your breakfast, load your luggage in the vehicle and set off for to Kampala. You will be driven gently though the undulating hills of Masindi, a stopover at Masindi hotel for lunch break and then proceed with your journey to Kampala/Entebbe. The driver guide will either drop you at the airport or at the hotel to relax depending on your time of flight.
