This 3 days safari will take you to Mgahinga National Park the smallest National park in the Pearl of Africa from Entebbe airport with a help of our driver guide. You will check in at the reserved lodge in the park as you wait to go trekking mountain Gorillas the next morning as you will have a Batwa cultural trail in the evening. Mgahinga National Park is a home to different wild life species like mammals, primates and bird species which will all be spotted during your safari in Mgahinga National Park. You will depart back to Entebbe with a stop-over in Mbarara.
You will be welcomed by our driver guide upon arrival at Entebbe and immediately set off for Mgahinga National Park. This is a full day journey that will take you up to 9 and a half hours though so interesting as you will enjoy stunning views of terraced farmlands, landscapes, beautiful scenery, Kigezi hills among others along the way. You will have a lunch en route along the way where you will enjoy the African spiced cuisines. Upon arrival in Mgahinga National Park, you will check in at the reserved lodge for dinner and a night stay as you wait for adventurous activities the next day.
This will start with a morning breakfast after which you will be driven to the park headquarters for a briefing about the rules and regulations of Gorilla trekking. You will then hit the jungle led by an experienced park guide through the park trails as you search these giant apes. Gorilla trekking will take you 1 to 6 hours depending on the location of these gentle giants where you will be able to view the uncommon golden monkeys, L’hoest’s monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, different bird species, plant species among others. Once a gorilla family has been located, you will have a magical hour with them as you spot their habits in their habitats and then head back to the lodge for lunch. After lunch you will embark on a Batwa trail experience that takes to about 3hours which leads from the base of Muhavura cave conducted by a Batwa guide who will provide insights into their traditional forest life and culture. You will also be taken through their grass thatched hats, have hands on their hunting tools to mention but a few. You will also visit Ngarama cave, once a home to their king where you will enjoy Batwa women perform cultural dances and you are allowed to participate and later head back to the lodge for a night stay.
You will check out of the lodge after your morning breakfast and immediately set off for Entebbe. Along the way, you will have a lunch en route at Igongo Country hotel and cultural center in Mbarara. At Igongo cultural center, you will be able to visit the museum that preserves almost all the items refereeing to the Ankole kingdom, Nkwanzi crafts and bookshop for book readers, Itaramiro cultural village encompassed with grass thatched huts and Mporoto court or Kitami palace all situated in Igongo cultural center. You will then embark on your journey arriving in the evening to catch your flight or dropped at palace of your convenience as you wait to catch your flight back home.
