Entebbe is a rich region in regards to biodiversity and birding would be a very rewarding experience. 3 days Entebbe birding experience will take to different spots that will give you a taste of the rich avian life Uganda has to offer. Birding comes in well with leisure and photography meaning that you will have enough opportunities for all. Considering Uganda’s oldest garden, Uganda Wildlife Education Center, Mabamba Island and many others expect birds like African Jacana, ostriches, Egyptian goose, kingfishers, African fish eagles, black crake, grey crowned crane, black kites, goliath heron, harrier hawk, gray parrot, great blue turaco, ross’s turaco, red-chested cuckoo, black cuckoo, freckled nightjar, mottled spinetail, alpine swift, lesser moorhen, lapwig, snipes, cormorants and many more
You will be picked by our driver guide from Glory Summit Tours from the airport once you land and will be taken into the Entebbe town to check into your lodging for the night. You will settle in and rest for a while then head out for lunch, after lunch is done you will head out to the Uganda Wildlife Education Center to do some birding and animal viewing. While at the center expect to see birds like African fish eagle, giant kingfisher, great blue turaco, common bulbul, little grey greenbul, grey crowned crane, African grey parrots, slender billed weaver with animals like lions, leopards, zebras, giraffes, cheetahs, chimpanzees, baboons, hyenas, kobs, waterbucks, snakes and many more. When done with the zoo, you will head back to your lodging in time to enjoy the sunset and dinner. You will retire at will with more birding in mind for the next day.
After breakfast, you will head out early for Mabamba Swamp, a Ramsar site located on the shores of Lake Victoria and renowned for its population of the elusive shoebill stork. While at Mabamba you will take a boat ride through the swamp, guided by expert local guide who can help you spot a wide range of species, including the iconic shoebill. Expect to see birds like grey-crowned crane, lesser jacana, papyrus gonolek, orange weaver, black egret, black crake, goliath heron, warblers, little grebe, pigeons, turacos, cuckoos, nightjars, African Finfoot, great snipe together with the elusive shoebill and many more which will take 2-3hours. Once done, you will head back to Entebbe town, have lunch then find your way to the Botanical gardens for beautiful sceneries and some more birding. While at Botanical gardens you will see birds like oink-backed pelican, yellow-billed stork, grey plantain-eater, purple banded sunbird, African jacana, lesser jacana, malachite kingfisher, crowned hornbill, little weaver, cormorants, herons and more with butterflies, different plant species and primates like monkeys. Once the birding is done, you will also get to enjoy the sun setting as it’s a beautiful view since the gardens are located along the shores of Lake Victoria. You will then head back to your lodging in time for dinner and then retire at will.
After your breakfast, you will check out of your lodging then enjoy some more bits of Entebbe before your flight. Explore other birding hotspots around Entebbe like the shores of Lake Victoria and look out for species such as the African pied wagtail, African blue flycatcher, and African grey hornbill and also visit a local craft market to pick up souvenirs. Then your driver will get you to the Airport in time for your check in, marking the end of your 3 days Entebbe birding experience.
